He taught music at public schools in NYC & Westchester and led a community choir at Theater for the New City. He now co-owns a small business named “Pixel Noise” that provides enterprise IT support services locally and produces livestreams and podcasts. He serves on the faculty of the 92NY School of Music where he leads a contemporary classical choir.

Leandra Wahlen
Secretary

Leandra is an early career educator from Long Island, New York. With a B.M. in Music Education and concentrations in voice and special music education, she teaches 9-12 choir and AP Music Theory in the Riverhead Central School District. She has previously taught K-2 general music and 6-8 general music and choir, and she also maintains her own private voice studio. On weekends she leads the music ministry at ABVM Parish in Centereach as both cantor and pianist. Leandra is incredibly grateful for the chance to be a part of an organization as special as eVoco, and can’t wait to see its continued growth.

Dory Agazarian
Development Direcor

With Bachelor’s degrees in both Music and History from Columbia University, Dory is currently completing a Ph.D. in History at the CUNY Graduate Center. As a classically-trained singer, she has performed leading roles in several operatic and musical theater productions and solo recitals. She has sung with numerous choirs (including the Riverside Choral Society, the Russian Chamber Chorus of New York, the Columbia University Glee Club and Columbia’s Opera Ensemble). While a long time New York City dweller, Dory enjoyed singing at a variety of restaurants, cabarets and piano bars. Now a resident of Long Island, her one-year-old son is her biggest fan.

Kyla Surajbali
Publications Director

An early career educator from Long Island, New York, Kyla works full time with Young People’s Chorus of NYC as a conducting fellow. She previously taught middle school chorus and general music, including directing the Junior Voices ensemble at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School, working with the Westchester Children’s Chorus as conducting associate and social media manager, and teaching vocal and piano lessons with the Long Island Studio of Music.

Brianna Brickman
Special Projects Chair

An active collaborative pianist on Long Island and across the Hudson Valley, Brianna is the High School Choral Director in the Locust Valley Central School District where she also serves as the Middle School and High School Musical director. In addition, she maintains a private piano and voice studio. Whether she is standing among the voices or sitting at the piano bench, she is deeply honored to be part of the dance.

Alex Plotkin Manager (ex officio)

Alex Plotkin is a Market Manager with Capital One and Manager for eVoco Voice Collective. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Vocal Performance from Hofstra University and still enjoys sharing his voice as a baritone. A textbook Virgo Sun, Alex can’t resist a good label maker or a neatly color-coded spreadsheet, and he thrives on bringing a touch of order to chaos. When he’s not supporting his teams or collaborating in the arts, you can find him studying astrology and tarot, flowing on his yoga mat, or watching a good (and preferably scary) horror movie. His favorite moments are spent with his husband, Sam, whether the two are playing board and video games or simply enjoying time together.

Kevin Barry
Treasurer

The director of the St. Philip Neri Adult Choir, Kevin is a proud graduate of Northport High School (where he sang under Sandy Valerio and was twice selected to the NYSSMA All-State choir) and Hamilton College (where he sang under Lee Spear and was was musical director of The Buffers, the college’s a capella group). He is an avid runner and has run 12 marathons. He combines his passions by singing the National Anthem each year at the start of Northport’s 5,000-runner Cow Harbor 10K before running the race himself. When he’s not singing or running, Kevin is an executive in advertising technology sales.
